Featured Resource

E Ola Koa Project

Koa, an endemic tree species in Hawaiʻi, nourishes understory plants and contributes to the balance and harmony of native forests. How can we be like the koa?

The E Ola Koa Project strives to develop culturally and linguistically sustaining skills-based Health Education resources for living pono and nurturing thriving connections. The E Ola Koa Project materials are grounded in Nā Hopena Aʻo (HĀ) and use a Kaiapuni pedagogical approach. The student-facing materials are available in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi and English.

The E Ola Koa Project resources are provided to support the implementation of skills-based Health Education aligned to the National Health Education Standards. Educators are encouraged to adapt the materials as appropriate. Prior to use with students or distribution to families, educators are responsible for carefully reviewing ideas, resources, and instructional materials as well as communicating with their principals to ensure that the content and learning experiences are appropriate for their students and school communities.

Multilingual Digital Posters

The National Health Education Standards, performance indicators, and skill cues (student-friendly tips) are available as multilingual digital resources to support educators with instruction to students and communication with families.
